Success Blueprint: Jhpiego Master Trainer (Nutrition)
As a Master Trainer, you are not just a teacher—you are a technical authority. Jhpiego is looking for “Subject Matter Experts” who can navigate both the clinical complexities of malnutrition and the political landscape of state health systems.
1. The “Decade of Experience” Rule
The job description requires “over a decade of hands-on experience.”
- The Strategy: Your CV should not just list jobs; it should list Impact. Use the “C-A-R” method (Challenge, Action, Result).
- Example: “Faced with a 15% default rate in [State] IMAM programs, I redesigned the community referral link, resulting in a 30% increase in treatment completion over 12 months.”
2. Highlighting IMAM & MIYCN Synergy
This project (MCGL-RISE IHP) integrates these two components.
- Success Factor: Show that you understand the transition from Prevention (MIYCN) to Treatment (IMAM). Mention your experience with both Nutrition-Specific and Nutrition-Sensitive interventions.
- Technical Terms: Mention your familiarity with the latest “National IMAM Guidelines” and “MIYCN SOPs.”
3. Emphasize “State Master Trainer” Mentorship
Jhpiego specifically wants someone who can train other trainers, especially for secondary facilities.
- Pro-Tip: If you have been part of a National TOT (Training of Trainers) or have certified other state-level facilitators, place this in your professional summary.
- Action: Highlight your ability to develop Job Aids. Trainers love Master Trainers who provide them with tools (checklists, flowcharts, infographics) that make their jobs easier.
4. Language & Cultural Fluency (The Kebbi/Ebonyi Advantage)
With locations in Kebbi (North) and Ebonyi (South-East), regional knowledge is a major asset.
- Strategy: If you are applying for Kebbi, emphasize your Hausa fluency and understanding of Northern health systems. If Ebonyi, highlight your Igbo fluency and experience with South-Eastern community structures.
5. Managing the “Deliverables”
This role is deliverable-based (reports, pre/post-tests, action plans).
- Soft Skills: Highlight your Project Management and Reporting skills. Show that you can produce a “Comprehensive Training Report” that isn’t just a narrative, but a data-driven analysis of how the training changed health worker knowledge.
6. Final Application Checklist
- [ ] Certifications: Is your “National Master Trainer” status clearly visible?
- [ ] EPI Knowledge: Did you mention your training/certification in the Expanded Program on Immunization? (This is a specific requirement in the ad).
- [ ] SOP/Manuals: Can you provide or describe an SOP or manual you personally authored?
- [ ] Immediate Availability: As a consultancy-style master trainer role, they often need someone to start within weeks. State your availability clearly.
You are the technical architect of health worker excellence. Apply with authority.
