- North Central: Benue, FCT, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau
- South West: Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo
Role Overview
Enumerators will be deployed within their LGA of residence. You will be responsible for conducting face-to-face interviews and accurately recording data using digital or paper-based tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting household or individual interviews following strict survey protocols.
- Ensuring data integrity, neutrality, and ethical standards.
- Reporting daily progress to Field Supervisors.
- Meeting daily targets within the specified project timeline.
Requirements
- Location: Must reside in one of the listed LGAs (Essential).
- Education: Minimum of Secondary School education (Higher education preferred).
- Experience: Prior experience in data collection or field research is a significant advantage.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, fluency in local languages, and ability to use mobile data collection tools.
- Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the assignment (approx. 1 month).
Compensation
Stipend-based, competitive rates based on performance and fieldwork completion.

Part 2: The Enumerator’s Success Guide
A guide for applicants to excel in the selection process and field operations.
1. Application Strategy
To increase your chances of being shortlisted by LANI Group, ensure your application highlights:
- Local Knowledge: Emphasize how long you have lived in your LGA and your familiarity with the terrain.
- Tech Savvy: Mention any experience with CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) tools like KoboCollect, ODK, or Survey123.
- Integrity: Highlight your commitment to data accuracy and ethical research.
2. Best Practices for Field Data Collection
Once engaged, follow these “Gold Rules” for successful enumeration:
A. The First Impression
- Approach: Always start with a polite greeting in the preferred local language.
- Introduction: Clearly state who you are and that you are representing LANI Group.
- Consent: Always explain the purpose of the survey and obtain verbal or written consent before starting.
B. Data Quality Management
- Neutrality: Never lead the respondent toward a specific answer. Read questions exactly as written.
- Probing: If an answer is unclear, use neutral probing techniques (e.g., “Can you tell me more about that?”) to get a complete response.
- Review: Double-check every entry before leaving the respondent’s location to ensure no fields are accidentally skipped.
C. Safety and Ethics
- Confidentiality: Assure respondents that their data is anonymous. Never share respondent info with third parties.
- Safety First: Do not enter environments where you feel unsafe. Report any security concerns immediately to your Supervisor.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Respect local customs, dress codes, and traditional hierarchies within the communities.
3. Checklist for Deployment
If selected, ensure you have the following ready for the field:
- Fully Charged Device: If using a mobile phone for data entry, ensure the battery is optimized.
- Power Bank: Essential for long days in areas with limited power access.
- Identification: Always carry your LANI Group field ID or authorization letter.
- Field Kit: Comfortable walking shoes, a notebook, a pen, and a water bottle.
