Candlelight Foundation for Children with Special Needs is a non-profit organization that is passionately committed to empowering children with special needs, such as Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD. The foundation provides support, resources, and opportunities for these children to thrive. As the organization seeks to extend its reach, it is actively looking for a dedicated Program Associate who is a resident of Lagos, even though the role is hybrid/remote, to join its team.

Job Title: Support Case Worker

Location: Ajah, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Description

  • We are seeking compassionate, organized, and proactive Support Case Workers to support the well-being and development of children with special needs.
  • The Case Worker will serve as a vital link between children, families, caregivers, and the foundation’s multidisciplinary teams.
  • The role involves assessing needs, developing care plans, providing referrals to support services, monitoring progress, and ensuring each child receives personalized and dignified care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments for children and families to determine specific needs and eligibility for services
  • Develop individualized care and support plans in collaboration with families and specialists
  • Monitor and document progress of children on a regular basis
  • Coordinate services such as therapy, medical care, and educational support
  • Advocate for the rights and inclusion of children with special needs in the community and institutions
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families and caregivers
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files and records
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and training sessions
  • Respond to crisis situations and ensure timely interventions when necessary
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings as it may involve travel to homes, schools, and community settings.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field
  • Previous experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of local child protection policies and disability support services
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to child welfare
  • Must reside in Ajah, Lagos State or it’s environs.
