About the Project
Société de Développement International (SDI), a Canada-headquartered research and development firm, is seeking a Project Coordinator / Team Leader to support the implementation of a development project in Niger.
The project focuses on climate-smart agriculture, agro-processing, economic inclusion of women and youth, nutrition, financial inclusion and institutional strengthening.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, planning and coordination of project activities.
- Oversee the installation and operationalization of 25 solar-powered agro-processing units.
- Support the development of at least 5 value-added products from cowpea and peanuts.
- Coordinate training for 600 women and youth on processing, quality, hygiene, packaging, storage, business management and market linkages.
- Support training and coordination of 40 community relays and 6 municipal health workers.
- Support the establishment of 15 Community Nutrition Monitoring and Vigilance Groups (CNMVGs).
- Coordinate assessments, training and public-private dialogue with local institutions, producer organizations and entrepreneurs.
- Oversee Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities and project deliverables.
- Ensure quality of reports, technical notes, videos and knowledge products.
- Liaise with government institutions, municipalities, financial institutions, private-sector actors and project partners.
- Supervise technical staff and field teams.
- Oversee implementation plans, budgets and reporting.
- Ensure integration of gender, youth, nutrition and climate-sensitive approaches.
Project Focus
The programme aims to:
- Strengthen the productivity and climate resilience of cowpea, peanut and market-gardening systems in Dakoro and Gazaoua.
- Strengthen the technical, entrepreneurial and organizational capacities of 50 producer organizations, particularly those led by women and youth.
- Improve the diet and nutrition of approximately 24,500 people through increased consumption of nutritious local products.
- Strengthen institutional frameworks and coordination for sustainable food-system initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BAC+4 or BAC+5) in a relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the relevant area of expertise.
- Strong leadership, coordination and planning skills.
- Experience managing teams and field activities.
- Ability to work with government institutions, municipalities, financial institutions, private-sector actors and development partners.
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning is required for the assignment.
- Ability to integrate gender, youth, nutrition and climate considerations into project implementation.
