Success Guide: The Save the Children Driver
Being a driver for Save the Children (SCI) in Kaduna requires more than just knowing the roads. It requires a commitment to a “Systematic Approach” to work.
1. The “Clean” Mandate
In this role, your vehicle is an office.
- Visibility: Ensure SCI decals and flags are clean and visible.
- Hygiene: Rubbish must be removed after every journey. A tidy vehicle reflects a professional organization.
2. The Golden Rules of Transit
- Authorized Journeys Only: Never move a vehicle without prior approval from your Line Manager.
- The Logbook is Law: Every kilometer must be accounted for. Accuracy in your logbook prevents fuel discrepancies and builds trust.
- Secure Storage: When not in use, keys and documents must be kept in a designated secure location—never left in the vehicle.
3. Safety Equipment Checklist
You are responsible for ensuring the following “Safety Kit” items are present and functional in your assigned vehicle:
- First Aid Kit (Check for expired items)
- Communication Equipment (Radios/Sat-phones)
- Tow Rope
- Fire Extinguisher (Check pressure gauge)
4. Working in Kaduna
Navigating the Kaduna terrain requires “Behavioral Flexibility.” Be prepared to:
- Adapt to changing security protocols.
- Communicate effectively with local stakeholders.
- Remain polite and professional even in frustrating traffic or field circumstances.
5. Application Tip: The 09:50 AM Deadline
Notice that the deadline is 09:50 AM, not the end of the day. This reflects SCI’s requirement for “Accuracy and Timeliness.” Submit your application at least 24 hours early to avoid technical issues.
Your driving saves lives. Drive with pride and precision.

Interested and qualified candidates should submit their application through the Save the Children online recruitment portal.
