About the Malteser International (MI)
is the global humanitarian arm of the Sovereign Order of Malta, dedicated to providing emergency relief and supporting recovery in crisis-affected regions worldwide. The organization has been operational in Nigeria since 2017, delivering life-saving assistance to vulnerable populations, particularly in the North-East.

Mission and Approach
Malteser International focuses on improving living conditions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities through integrated humanitarian interventions. Its approach combines emergency response with long-term recovery, ensuring sustainability and community resilience.

Key Focus Areas in Nigeria

• WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene):
  Provision of clean drinking water through solar-powered boreholes, rehabilitation of water systems, construction of sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion to prevent disease outbreaks such as cholera.
• Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV):
  Establishment of safe spaces for women and girls, offering psychosocial support, case management, and vocational skills training (e.g., tailoring, baking) to promote protection and economic independence.
• Emergency Relief:
  Rapid response to humanitarian crises, including distribution of essential household items, emergency kits, and support during disasters such as flooding and displacement.
• Food Security and Livelihoods:
