ABOUT THE JOB: 

The WASH Coordinator will provide overall managerial & technical support to all projects related to WASH in his/her field office, The WASH Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of all WASH project’s activities and with support from WASH Program Manager, she/he will work closely with the program implementation team and ensure high quality program implementation their respective area both in WASH in community/camp, Safe space, Health care Facilities, and Schools. He/she represent EYN Projects in front of WASH partners, and WASH Sector meetings.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and ensure on-the-job training to the WASH team and community-based volunteers concerning Global WASH standards and approaches for WASH (both hardware and software);
  • Conduct timely and spot monitoring visits to projects to support field staffs to ensure that project implementations are in accordance with the project implementation plan.
  • Identify key gaps in WASH facilities and minimum standards in the WASH interventions by providing technical checking of WASH engineering and hygiene promotion aspects of the program and proactively promote high quality WASH technical approaches;
  • Provide inputs to the development of concept notes, proposals, WASH strategy, details implementation plans and master budgets;
  • Identify priorities and technically assist on assessments, designing and overseeing KAP and other surveys;
  • Monitor and reporting on key issues of security, incidences, risk and situation update in the organization to the project Manager and Partners in order to improve decision making processes.
  • Assist the Program Manager in Internal and External Communication session and events about the project for sound awareness.
  • Member of Programme management committee actively participate in meaningful deliberation during decision making for the progress of the organization.
  • Write a comprehensive project progress reports to the funding partners and share it with the project manager at monthly basis as stipulated in the project agreement, quarterly and end of project report when due.
  • Support the Project officers in conducting advocacy and consultation visit to community leaders and members of the community during community entry and engagements.
  • Technically sound to coordinates and supervises the WASH team in various field of projects implementations Locations, track implementation progress accordingly.
  • Participating   in    stakeholder   meetings and organizing all other activities relating to the project as well as   documenting   all important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Develop project strategies, ensuring project deadlines are met and determine project changes to achieve project deliverables.
  • Monitor performance against the set targets, develop budget forecast and monitor expenses to avoid over/underspent.
  • Carry out all documentation appropriately and ensuring adherence to framework for each project.
  • Guaranteeing value and integrity of operation, as well as faithfulness to technical guidelines, administrative systems, and to achieve targets timely.
  • Actively participate and represent the organization in WASH sector meetings, and reports update to the programme manager.
  • Ensure gender and protection are considered throughout the project cycle, with women being enabled to influence decision- making around WASH challenges;
  • Ensure WASH program implantation is linked to other key sectors health, Nutrition, gender, child protection, and MHPSS;
  • Ensure that all planned activities are implemented on time, to quality measures and within budget as per the monthly plan.
  • Coordinate with logistics, and procurement to conduct the technical evaluation for bidders on WASH infrastructure work;
  • Lead through the WASH team the supervision and follow up of contractors on all infrastructures under multiple donors funded projects;
  • Monitor/report on key issues and provide support in analysing contextual information in order to improve decision-making process
  • Liaise and cooperate with national and international partners for the purpose of advancing the project objective and with other national and international partners.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Civil and Water Resource Engineering, Project Management or any related field from a certified tertiary institution with at least three years of proven experience use of AutoCAD in designing, supervising construction and Borehole drilling.
  • Progressive management/coordination experience of working in an emergency and long-term WASH program;
  • At least 5 years of working experience with 3 years in humanitarian context,
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation,
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
  • A critical thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience working in an office environment while consistently upholding strong professional ethics.
