POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Nurse, the Nutrition Assistant will participate in the nutritional case management of children suffering from acute malnutrition. This role follows MSF nutritional and hygiene protocols to ensure quality medical care and improve health conditions within the targeted community.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Case Management: Assist in conducting initial assessments of nutritional status and identifying health complications.
  • Nutritional Support: Prepare and distribute therapeutic food rations according to medical prescriptions and supervise feeding practices.
  • Patient Monitoring: Regularly monitor and record anthropometric measurements, weight, and vital signs (temperature, heart rate, etc.).
  • Health Education: Provide hygiene training and counseling to caregivers regarding breastfeeding and nutritional care.
  • Basic Care: Carry out basic health care duties (swabbing, local treatments) while adhering to strict hygiene and asepsis rules.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate patient records and report daily intake and treatment progress.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness of premises, materials, and biomedical equipment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Literacy and sound knowledge of nutrition protocols.
  • Experience: At least six (6) months of work experience with MSF or a recognized nutritional program.
  • Languages: Essential proficiency in local languages/dialects. Knowledge of the mission working language is an advantage.
