About AHNi
Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is an indigenous non-profit affiliate organization of Family Health International (FHI 360), registered in Nigeria in 2009. It aims to provide technical assistance to the government and people of Nigeria in the implementation of public health and development programs.
Role Purpose
The Clinical Specialist will provide technical and programmatic oversight for the delivery of high-quality HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis services. The consultant will ensure that ART services are provided in line with National guidelines across both facility and community settings within designated LGAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Management: Coordinate and conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and management of HIV/AIDS and opportunistic infections. Oversee PrEP and PEP service delivery.
- Service Coordination: Manage ART services for PLHIVs at the facility and community levels (DSD sites). Coordinate referrals for psychosocial support, legal aid, and specialized care.
- Team Leadership: Supervise clinical team members, health service providers, volunteers, and case managers. Lead weekly/monthly clinical staff meetings.
- Data & Strategy: Support the Strategic Information (SI) unit in data collection using nationally approved tools. Analyze and interpret facility-level data to improve service delivery and decision-making.
- Technical Oversight: Provide programmatic guidance to Pharmacy and Laboratory units. Ensure a seamless continuum of care by collaborating with community outreach teams and peer educators.
- Reporting: Prepare program reports, identify success stories, and proactively report challenges or opportunities that promote clinical services.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Medicine (MBBS) from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 2 to 3 years post-NYSC experience in the clinical management of HIV/TB.
- Licensing: Valid license to practice as a Medical Doctor in Nigeria.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Knowledge of databases such as DHIS or NMRS is a significant plus.
- Soft Skills: Resourcefulness, flexibility, and the ability to lead productive teams in fast-changing and challenging environments.
- Languages: Proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
- Added Advantage: Possession of a postgraduate degree in a related field.
