Job Summary

  • The Technical Officer – Shelter & NFIs will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of shelter and NFI interventions in conflict-affected communities.
  • The role involves technical guidance, coordination with partners, and ensuring quality and accountability in service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Planning:

  • Conduct shelter and NFI needs assessments in target communities.
  • Contribute to the development of shelter and NFI strategies and work plans.
  • Support site planning and shelter design in line with humanitarian standards.

Implementation & Monitoring:

  • Oversee implementation of shelter &NFI activities by consortium partners.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and humanitarian standards
  • Monitor project progress and provide timely reports.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical guidance to field teams and implementing partners.
  • Train staff and community members on shelter construction techniques and NFI usage.
  • Ensure safety, durability, and cultural appropriateness of shelter solutions.

Coordination & Representation:

  • Participate in sector coordination meetings (Shelter/NFI Cluster).
  • Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams for timely delivery of materials.

Accountability & Learning:

  • Promote beneficiary feedback mechanisms.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices.
  • Support evaluations and contribute to donor reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in humanitarian shelter and NFI programming.
  • Master’s Degree in related field with 3-5 years’ experience
  • Familiarity with humanitarian standards and coordination mechanisms.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in Northeast Nigeria or similar contexts is an asset.
