The Role: Programs & Gender Leadership Development Lead
Location: Nigeria (Flexible, Remote-Friendly) Employment Type: Full-time
This is a key, remote-friendly, and outcome-based leadership role. The Lead will be responsible for the strategic oversight, coordination, and expansion of GWEF’s primary intervention areas, ensuring that a robust gender lens is applied to all leadership and economic strengthening initiatives.
Core Responsibilities (What You Will Drive)
The Lead will manage program execution, strategic partnerships, and community mobilization:
1. Women’s Leadership and Mentorship Programs
- Curriculum Implementation: Oversee the successful implementation and continuous improvement of women’s leadership and mentorship programs designed to build confidence, civic participation, and entrepreneurial capacity.
- M&E Integration: Work with the monitoring team to track leadership outcomes, ensuring programs result in measurable positive transformation for participants.
2. TVET Coordination and Partnerships
- Enrollment Strategy: Coordinate strategic efforts to maximize enrollment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs across key implementation states.
- Partnership Building: Develop and manage partnerships with TVET centers, governmental bodies, and industry stakeholders to ensure training quality, certification, and direct pathways to employment or self-employment.
3. Alliance Growth and Advocacy
- Southwest Gender Equity Alliance: Strategically lead the growth, coordination, and activity of the Southwest Gender Equity Alliance, strengthening its advocacy capacity and expanding its regional influence.
- Policy Influence: Translate program impact data into advocacy messages to influence local and state-level policies related to women’s economic rights and digital inclusion.
4. Community Engagement and Program Reporting
- Mobilization: Lead community engagement activities, ensuring programs are responsive to local needs, culturally appropriate, and deeply supported by community leaders.
- Reporting: Ensure timely and high-quality program reports are generated, detailing progress, challenges, success stories, and financial expenditure against targets for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Gender Mainstreaming: Serve as the internal expert for integrating gender equality principles and safeguarding measures across all GWEF program designs and field activities.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a strategic program manager with a deep passion for gender equity and proven experience scaling development initiatives.
Requirements
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification in Gender Studies, International Development, Public Administration, Education, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience (4+ years desirable) in program management, with significant exposure to gender equality, women’s empowerment, or TVET programs.
- Proven ability to coordinate complex projects across multiple locations and manage relationships with diverse partners (government, CSOs, community leaders).
- Strong leadership skills in mentoring teams and driving collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in developing narrative program reports.
- Deep understanding of the Nigerian context, particularly challenges faced by women and girls in rural communities.
- Willingness to travel periodically for field coordination and partnership meetings.
