Teenage Education and Empowerment Network (Teenage Network) is on a mission to promote access to quality education and health for adolescent girls across Nigeria. Our work has already impacted over 100,000 girls across seven states by focusing on critical areas like education, SRHR, child protection, and digital safety.

Job Title: Research and Innovation Intern

Location: Abuja, Nigeria (FCT)

The Role: Research and Innovation Intern

This is not a general admin role. This internship places you at the intersection of data, strategy, and high-impact program design. You will work directly with our Research, Programmes, and Strategy teams, contributing to organizational learning and evidence-based decision-making.

This role is specifically reserved for a National Youth Corps Member currently serving in Abuja, Nigeria (FCT).

Key Responsibilities: Where You Will Drive Impact

The Research and Innovation Intern will be a foundational support across four strategic pillars:

1. Evidence Generation & Analysis

  • Conduct Research: Lead desk reviews, landscape analyses, and literature searches on priority areas (e.g., gender equality, climate change, digital safety).
  • Data Support: Assist with primary data collection (surveys, FGDs, interviews) and contribute to the analysis of quantitative and qualitative datasets.
  • Knowledge Products: Draft evidence summaries, research briefs, fact sheets, and insight papers to inform internal and external stakeholders.

2. Innovation & Strategy

  • Problem-Solving: Support the design and testing of innovative solutions, including new program ideas, digital tools, and community engagement models.
  • Strategic Planning: Generate key insights that feed directly into our organizational strategy, helping to identify gaps, challenges, and new opportunities for growth and resource mobilization.

3. Program Design & Proposal Support

  • Translate research findings into compelling content for grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Contribute to the development of concept notes, problem analysis, and logical framework formulation for new projects.

4. Learning & Adaptation (MELA)

  • Assist in tracking project indicators and learning questions to support our Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Adaptation (MELA) framework.
  • Support the vital documentation of lessons learned, success stories, and promising approaches from our field operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a young professional who is passionate, curious, and dedicated to development work:

  • Status: Currently serving as a National Youth Corps Member (NYSC) in Abuja.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, or a related Social Science or Development Studies (a second class upper is an advantage).
  • Skills: Excellent writing and analytical skills, proven ability to conduct independent desk research, and strong critical thinking abilities.
  • Advantage: Prior experience with data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, STATA, Power BI, or NVivo) is a significant plus.
  • Location: Candidates residing close to Bannex-Jahi are encouraged to apply.
