Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious international aid organization committed to supporting civilians affected by marginalization, exclusion, natural disasters, wars, and economic collapses. Our mission is to provide emergency relief, restore dignity, and help uprooted populations regain self-sufficiency.
Since 2016, PUI has been a dedicated presence in Nigeria, focusing our humanitarian response across Borno and Katsina States, with deep-field operations in locations like Maiduguri, Monguno, and Pulka. We are now seeking a committed and experienced nurse to strengthen our team in Borno State.
The Role: Nurse
Job Title: Nurse Location: Monguno LGA, Borno State Employment Type: Full-time Monthly Salary: N520,524
General Objective
Reporting directly to the Outpatient Department (OPD) Supervisor/Nurse Team Leader, the Nurse is a pivotal member of the health facility team. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient consultations in collaboration with the Midwife and other team members, strictly adhering to PUI protocols and international standards. Your primary goal is to ensure the quality and continuity of care, focusing on the promotion and restoration of health for the vulnerable populations we serve.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
This role requires a proactive and dedicated individual capable of managing diverse clinical and coordination responsibilities:
1. Clinical Patient Care
- Conducting thorough medical consultations, including full history taking, clinical examination, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment prescription, following established protocols and universal precautions.
- Clearly explaining diagnoses and treatment plans to patients to ensure compliance.
- Managing and reporting suspected communicable disease cases in line with PUI protocols and national Disease Surveillance guidelines.
- Delegating treatment tasks (drug distribution, injections, dressings) to Nurse Assistants and actively participating in team cohesion.
- Providing essential individual health promotion and maintaining a clean, presentable working environment.
2. Efficient Referral System Management
- Managing emergency and elective referral cases in accordance with the referral protocol.
- Facilitating necessary logistics, including transportation means, appointments with specialists, and laboratory tests, in collaboration with the OPD supervisor.
- Following up on referred cases to check outcomes and ensuring appropriate follow-up care is administered.
- Identifying and referring patients who require mental health consultations.
3. Medical Data Collection and Reporting
- Accurately and legibly recording clinical case management details on patient health cards and registration books.
- Ensuring accurate daily use and tracking of epidemiological data.
- Actively participating in the early warning system and outbreak response planning.
- Providing oral handover at every team changeover, highlighting any notable events during the shift.
- Reporting any problems, especially concerning the loss or damage of medical equipment or medicines, to the direct supervisor.
Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or OND qualification.
- Experience: 2–5 years of relevant professional experience.
