We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Protection & Gender Field Assistant
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- This role involves engaging with vulnerable populations, facilitating protection and gender-sensitive activities, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards and policies.
- The assistant will work closely with partners, stakeholders, and community members to promote safety, dignity, and gender equality.
Responsibilties
- Assist in the implementation of protection and gender programming activities at the field level.
- Conduct community outreach and awareness campaigns on protection and gender issues.
- Identify and report protection concerns, vulnerabilities, and gender-specific needs among affected populations.
- Support the registration, referral, and follow-up processes for protection cases.
- Facilitate safe spaces and support services for women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
- Collect and maintain accurate data related to protection and gender activities, ensuring confidentiality.
- Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations to promote protection and gender equality.
- Support capacity-building activities for community members and local partners.
- Ensure activities adhere to organizational policies, protection standards, and gender-sensitive approaches.
- Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and case studies as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in protection, gender, or community development programs is preferred.
- Strong understanding of protection principles, gender equality, and human rights.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cultural sensitivity skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.
- Fluency in Kanuri and Hausa is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Word & Excel Suite and data management.
