Program Assistant at Explore Humanitarian Aid Initiative (Explore Aid)
Explore Humanitarian Aid Initiative (Explore Aid) is a non profit organisation working to support conflict affected communities in North Eastern Nigeria through protection, psychosocial support, livelihoods, research and evidence based advocacy.
The Advancing Survivor Centred Transitional Justice in North Eastern Nigeria project seeks to promote healing, accountability and reintegration for survivors of conflict related violence, including sexual and gender based violence, across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States. The project strengthens safe spaces, referral pathways, documentation of harms, community dialogues and policy advocacy, with a strong focus on survivor dignity, safety and participation.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Program Assistant
Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Summary
- The Programme Assistant will provide programme, administrative and logistical support for the Advancing Survivor Centred Transitional Justice in North Eastern Nigeria project to ensure effective planning and implementation of activities across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States.
Duties
- Support planning and coordination of project activities including community dialogues, safe space activities, trainings and advocacy meetings.
- Assist in preparing simple workplans, activity concept notes and budgets and follow up on implementation timelines.
- Provide logistics support for meetings and field activities such as venue booking, invitations, materials, refreshments and transport arrangements.
- Take and compile minutes for meetings and workshops and follow up on agreed action points.
- Support communication and liaison with community based organisations, government agencies, coalitions and other partners.
- Assist in preparing activity reports, monthly updates and inputs for donor reports in collaboration with programme and M&E staff.
- Maintain proper filing and archiving of project documents including attendance sheets, reports, photographs and correspondence in both hard and soft copies.
- Support basic procurement and finance processes for project activities in line with Explore Aid policies and donor requirements.
- Assist in visibility and communication tasks, including collection of photos and short human interest stories from the field.
- Ensure compliance with Explore Aid safeguarding and PSEA policies during all interactions with survivors, community members and partners.
- Perform other programme related duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Psychology or a related field.
- 1 – 2 years experience in programme support, project implementation, coordination or administration, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.
- Experience working on protection, GBV, peacebuilding, transitional justice or related programmes is an added advantage.
- Good organisational and coordination skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Good writing skills for activity reports, minutes and correspondence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams, community members, government officials and partners.
- Fluency in English and good working knowledge of Hausa. Knowledge of Kanuri or other local languages in BAY States is an asset.
- High level of integrity, discretion and commitment to Explore Aid’s values.
