Main Objective

The main objective of this position is to carry out basic technical and logistics work that does not require special qualifications, following MSF procedures and instructions, to contribute to construction, smooth functioning, cleanliness, and repairs within MSF premises.

Key Accountabilities

The Labourer will be responsible for:

  1. Maintenance Support:

    • Assist skilled workers in maintaining MSF premises, facilities, and equipment, including carpentry, plumbing, building structures, and gardening.

  2. Logistics:

    • Load and unload vehicles and assist MSF staff with carrying items as required.

  3. General Repairs:

    • Conduct minor repairs, maintenance, and construction work, such as changing light bulbs, repairing locks, fixing fences, and painting surfaces.

  4. Groundskeeping & Cleanliness:

    • Maintain gardens and ensure cleanliness of working and common areas.

  5. Facility Support (Context-Specific):

    • Assist with office setups, relocations, furniture moves, and event setups/breakdowns (e.g., meetings, trainings).

  6. Reporting:

    • Inform superiors of any incidents occurring during work.

Requirements

Education:

  • Essential: Primary certificate

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a related job

Languages:

  • Mission language (English) and local languages (Hausa and Fulani) essential

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic repairs

Competencies:

  • Results and quality orientation, teamwork and cooperation, behavioral flexibility, commitment to MSF principles, stress management
