The Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) is recruiting motivated individuals to join our team as State Research Assistants on an ad-hoc contract basis.
We are seeking professionals to provide essential, state-level support for our critical TB/HIV GC7 project across ten states:
Location: Gombe, Kano, Ebonyi, Kwara, Anambra, Oyo, Lagos, Osun, Ogun, & Rivers.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain significant experience in public health research coordination and data management on a large-scale project.
1. The Assignment: Data Integrity & Field Coordination
As a State Research Assistant, you are the backbone of data accuracy at the state level. You will work under the Central Research Coordinator, focusing on ensuring reliable data flow from the field into electronic systems.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Field Coordination: Coordinate all research activities within your assigned state, liaising with data collectors and providing routine quality assurance checks.
- Data Management: Verify data quality and perform accurate, timely data entry into electronic systems like REDCap. You are responsible for data cleaning, storage, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Scientific Writing: Draft and contribute to technical reports, field summaries, preliminary results, and other knowledge-sharing materials for the central team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with local health facilities and state government authorities to facilitate smooth research implementation.
2. Who Should Apply?
We are looking for candidates who combine academic grounding in health/social sciences with practical field experience.
Essential Qualifications
- Academic: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Demography, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience supporting field research, M&E, or public health projects.
- Technical: Prior experience using digital data collection platforms (e.g., REDCap, ODK, Kobo) is highly desirable.
- Reporting: Demonstrated ability to draft concise scientific summaries, technical reports, and research documents.
Added Advantage
- A Master’s Degree in Public Health or a related field.
- Experience engaging with community-based data collectors or state-level health facilities.
