The Opportunity: PHC Revitalization Project
We are seeking 12 highly skilled and motivated LGA Based Construction Engineers to join a critical, large-scale health infrastructure project. This initiative, in collaboration with UNICEF, the Global Fund, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), is focused on the comprehensive rehabilitation and strengthening of Primary Healthcare (PHC) facilities.
As an LGA Based Construction Engineer, you will be deployed locally to the grassroots level, acting as the project’s technical guardian on the ground. Your role is pivotal in ensuring effective delivery, timely supervision, and strict adherence to the highest quality standards for this vital public health mission.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily technical oversight and quality assurance of revitalization activities:
- Daily Site Supervision: Conduct daily, rigorous site visits to assigned PHCs, meticulously monitoring ongoing construction and revitalization activities.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all construction work progresses in strict accordance with approved engineering plans, quality standards, and established project timelines.
- Issue Reporting & Mitigation: Proactively identify and promptly report any potential delays, technical issues, or deviations from the agreed scope of work and specifications to the project management team.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed daily records of all site visits, observations, progress updates, and resource allocation.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact, liaising effectively with contractors and PHC staff to resolve on-site concerns and channeling communications through the established reporting hierarchy.
- Efficiency Feedback: Provide timely, actionable feedback and technical recommendations to the project team to continuously improve implementation efficiency and construction quality.
Core Deliverables: Daily Progress Reports, Timely Deviation/Delay Alerts, and Actionable Recommendations for Quality Enhancement.
Requirements and Qualifications
We are looking for dedicated professionals with a proven track record in the civil engineering construction domain, particularly in community-focused projects.
Education & Professional Experience
- Mandatory: Overall minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in the civil engineering construction field.
- Academic:
- M.Sc. in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering; OR
- B.Sc. in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the built environment.
Desired Competencies
Candidates with experience in the following areas will have a significant advantage:
- Construction supervision, particularly in remote or rural settings.
- Health facility construction or renovation projects (PHCs).
- Experience with Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) systems.
- Structural integrity assessment and reporting.
- Managing community-based or rural development projects.
Language Proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
- Proficiency in the local language (Hausa) is required due to the project locations.
