Unit: Community Structure
Commitment: Flexible / Part-time, 3–6 months (renewable)
Mobilizes community members, supports awareness campaigns, assists in data collection, and acts as OHRI\’s trusted liaison at the grassroots level to ensure community ownership of interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mobilize community members for OHRI programs, meetings, and events.
- Conduct door-to-door sensitization on climate change, public health, hygiene, and environmental protection.
- Assist in data collection, beneficiary registration, and community mapping.
- Report community needs, feedback, and concerns to the Project Officer or State Coordinator.
- Support the formation and strengthening of community-based groups and committees.
- Serve as a positive role model for healthy behaviors and environmental stewardship.
- Distribute IEC materials, demonstrate clean technologies, and facilitate community dialogues.
Specific Requirements:
- Minimum of SSCE / WAEC or equivalent; higher education is an advantage.
- Must be a resident of the target community with strong local networks and trust.
- Good communication skills in local language and basic English.
- Passion for community service, health promotion, and environmental conservation.
- Willingness to volunteer time without monetary compensation.
- Commitment of 3–6 months minimum.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
- Nature of Engagement: Unpaid volunteer service (non-remunerative).
- Duration: Minimum commitment of 3–6 months; renewable based on performance and organizational need.
- Locations: Adamawa State (Headquarters), Gombe State, Jigawa State, Kano State, Abuja FCT, and remote/virtual options for select roles.
- Work Schedule: Full-time (5+ days/week), part-time (2–4 days/week), or weekend-only, depending on role and agreement.
- Start Date: Rolling basis — shortlisted candidates will be contacted individually for onboarding.
- Reporting Structure: Each volunteer reports to their respective Unit Manager or State Coordinator, with overall oversight from the Executive Director.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (APPLY TO ALL POSITIONS)
- Must be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Strong commitment to OHRI\’s mission, vision, and core values (Resilience, Inclusivity, Stewardship, Integrity, Evidence, Collaboration).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Hausa or local languages is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively in multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel to field locations within assigned states, including rural and underserved communities.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, internet); advanced digital skills required for technical roles.
- Must possess a valid means of identification (National ID, Voter\’s Card, Driver\’s License, or International Passport).
