Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a global health nonprofit with over 40 years of experience strengthening health systems, is seeking a professional and safety-conscious Driver III to support our critical Global Fund Malaria project in Nigeria.

Overview of the Role

The Driver III will be an integral part of the Global Fund Malaria project team, responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of MSH vehicles according to MSH and donor guidelines. You will play a crucial role in logistics, ensuring all travel is meticulously planned, safe, and efficient, while upholding the highest standards of courtesy and confidentiality.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Safe Transportation & Logistics:

  • Safely transport project team members, VIP Visitors, and MSH staff to various locations, appointments, and events.
  • Plan each travel route based on road conditions, traffic, meeting schedules, and in coordination with the operations and Security Unit to avoid areas of risk.
  • Constantly review the project team’s itinerary and communicate clearly and timely regarding any schedule changes.
  • Adhere strictly to the Nigerian Highway Code Traffic Regulations and MSH driving rules and transport policies.

Vehicle Maintenance & Reporting:

  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections (fluids, tires, etc.) using the vehicle daily checklist and ensure the vehicle’s cleanliness.
  • Maintain and update the vehicle logbook, trip tickets, record fuel consumption, run hours, and mileage accurately.
  • Report all vehicle faults, maintenance needs, and incidents/accidents to the supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure all vehicle accessories, documents (registration, licenses, insurance), and safety equipment are complete, current, and compliant.
  • Coordinate vehicle servicing appointments and ensure the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
  • Submit all expense reports in a timely and properly completed manner to the accounting team.

Professionalism & Security:

  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding staff activities and sensitive information.
  • Ensure the security of the vehicle when outside of the office.
  • Conduct interactions with high-level officials and staff with professionalism and courtesy, reflecting MSH’s mission and values.
  • Assist in safeguarding MSH assets against fraud, loss, or misuse, adhering to MSH Procurement Integrity policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school certificate.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of relevant work experience in transportation, mechanics, logistics, or operations.
  • License: Valid driver’s license with a clean record (no traffic violations).
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian highways, road systems, traffic rules, and safety issues.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of minor vehicle repair, ability to identify mechanical/electrical troubles, and ability to lift up to 20kg. Auto-mechanic experience is highly desirable.
  • Language: Ability to communicate in English, both written and orally.
  • Attributes: Demonstrated punctuality, attention to detail, flexibility, and a neat, professional appearance. Must be available to undertake irregular work schedules, long trips, and domestic travel on short notice.
  • Bonus: Experience with international governmental and non-governmental organizations or donor agencies.
