Main Purpose of the Role
To transport authorized goods and passengers in MSF vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring the vehicle’s technical and safety conditions are maintained while strictly respecting traffic regulations and MSF security rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily and weekly technical checks (tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio) as per the MSF Logbook. Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and refilled as necessary.
- Safety & Security: Ensure the safety of all passengers by driving carefully and adhering to speed limits. Ensure all non-MSF staff sign liability disclaimers before travel.
- Cargo & Documentation: Manage the correct loading/unloading of goods, ensure all transport documents are signed by receivers, and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle papers on board.
- Communication: Master the use of radio equipment, codes, and alphabets to maintain constant communication with the base regarding position and security implications.
- Logistics Support: Support EPREP and Outreach teams (Meningitis, Cholera, Lassa, etc.) to ensure timely departures and arrivals back to base.
- Hygiene: Perform proper cleaning of ambulances or referral vehicles according to IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) protocols.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Licensing:
- Essential literacy and a valid driving license.
- Extensive knowledge of road networks within Kebbi State.
Experience:
- Essential: Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience.
- Desirable: Experience with 4×4 vehicles, Vans, or Trucks.
- Desirable: Previous experience with MSF or other International NGOs.
Languages:
- Essential: Mission language (English).
- Desirable: Local languages (Hausa, Fulani, or Suru).
Residency:
- This vacancy is open only to residents of Birnin Kebbi.
