Job Title: Health and Nutrition Officer
Location: Sokoto

Primary Reposnibilities
- The Health and Nutrition Officer will be work closely the PHI and DRC teams, under the supervisor of the State Program Manager to achieve the strategic objectives and intermediate results of the project – focusing primarily on nutrition, WASH and support cross-cutting health and nutrition themes, and integrate efforts across the project with other areas to support vulnerable households and other IDPs.
- The Health and Nutrition Officer will assist in the capacity strengthening of team members, asd ad-hoc staff to provide high-quality nutrition services for vulnerable households and IDPs.
- Support the team to ensure that those project activities and approaches used are in line with relevant SPADs project objectives and government policies.
- S/He will map project communities and facilities to determine common nutritional vulnerabilities for IDPs and other priority groups for Nutritional interventions.
- S/He will conduct a project-level rapid assessment and develop SOP, Nutrition pathways charts, and guidance documents for the project.
- S/he will work supporting program implementation, conduct step-down training, provide nutrition services, document learnings, disseminate project efforts, and achievements, and support reporting of nutrition and other health-related activities within PHI and to the larger Nigerian and global technical community, as appropriate.
- S/he will assist in the development of assessment tools, analysis of household vulnerability assessment results, and articulation of appropriate relevant interventions to address identified gaps
- S/he will be responsible for writing reports of Nutrition Community of Practice meetings and training while providing logistical and programmatic support during such activities
- S/he will maintain a strong partnership with implementing CSOs, government and private sector players, and other relevant stakeholders in a manner that reflects professionalism and mutual respect in accordance with PHI value-based behavior.
- Perform any other functions that may be assigned by the State Team.
Key Working Relationships:
- Internal:(Internal) All project staff,
- External: Local Government Areas, Federal and state Ministry of Women Affairs; Federal and state Ministry of Health, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, particularly the ADPs; private sector players; and other stakeholders.
Minimum Required Education & Experience
- Medicine (MBBS), or Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in health and nutrition programs, particularly in IDP settings.
- Strong understanding of maternal and child nutrition, communicable disease prevention, and public health interventions in humanitarian contexts.
- Familiarity with national and international health guidelines (WHO, UNICEF, SPHERE Standards) and nutrition protocols for displaced populations.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring health and nutrition programs, including community-based interventions for IDPs.
- Proven ability to work with government agencies, health facilities, and humanitarian organizations to strengthen service delivery for IDP communities.
