We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Wash Department

Locations: Abuja

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Director for Programmes, you will guarantee the quality, relevance and scaling up of the WASH programme of the mission, in conformity with ACF and international standards and national policies.
  • More specifically, your tasks will be to:
  • Contribute to defining the country strategy as well as the strategy and positioning of the WASH technical Department
  • Coordinate the identification of needs and the formulation of project proposals
  • Oversee the implementation of, and ensure reporting on, programs/projects
  • Guarantee the quality and accountability of projects
  • Ensure the active participation of ACF in national sectoral coordination and technical forums, and develop sectoral partnerships
  • Manage your team: 1 Deputy Head of Department (Direct Report) and
  • 4 Programme Managers (Indirect Report)
  • Promote capitalization, technical development, research and innovation within the WASH Department

Requested profile

  • You hold a Master’s Degree in Water Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Public Health, and you have over 3 years of experience working on water, sanitation, hygiene, and health education projects in humanitarian contexts. Experience with Action Against Hunger is highly desirable.
  • You have proven experience and capability in managing large-scale WASH programs and teams, with strong leadership and understanding of humanitarian principles, code of conduct, and specific NGO field and operational roles.
  • You have already managed the preparation of budgets for programs and demonstrated strong proposal writing and donor reporting skills.
  • You are familiar with WASH policies and the Nigerian mission context. You have experience working in security-volatile contexts.
  • You are fluent in English (spoken and written).
