Job Summary
- We are inviting applications for the position of Finance Officer, to be based in Nigeria.
- Reporting to the Finance Manager and Grants Coordinator, the Finance Officer will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Projects financial management and budgeting
- Responsible for the smooth running of the finance department
- Ensuring that the service in the finance department is provided correctly and in accordance with YAINT financial management and accounting procedures
- Performing financial planning, monitoring, and accounting duties.
- Carrying out internal controls in accordance with the Finance and Administration Manual.
- Preparing for internal and external audits.
- Focal person for all banking matters
- Indemnified for cash withdrawals from the banks
Within these responsibilities, tasks include:
Budgeting and Financial Planning
- In liaison with the Programmes team, prepare and monitor project budgets.
- Adjust budgets as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
Financial Monitoring and Reporting
- Track the project’s financial performance against the budget, providing regular updates and reports to the Finance Manager and the Programmes Team.
- Ensure accurate financial data is recorded and reported
- Preparing monthly variance reports.
Financial Compliance and Auditing
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards and organisational policies
- External and Internal audit preparations
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented and traceable.
Reporting on financial performance
- Provide clear and concise financial performance reports to the Finance Manager.
- Financial management of the grant.
- Setting up and aligning financial management and administrative systems with existing policies and procedures
- Monitor and control expenditure accordingly
- Ensure financial and administrative compliance with donor contracts.
- Produce periodic donor reports.
- Produce monthly and annual Financial Reports.
- Track the project’s financial performance against the budget, providing regular updates and reports to the Finance Manager and the Programmes Team.
- Ensure accurate financial data is recorded and reported.
- Identify discrepancies or deviations from the budget and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- External and Internal audit preparations
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented, filed and traceable.
- All tasks will be carried out in very close collaboration with the Finance Manager and Grants Coordinator.
- Any other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least a degree in Finance or Administration, at least 10 years of related working experience in the NGO sector.
- Experience working with Mastercard Foundation grants will be a definite advantage.
- Solid and proven knowledge of accounting, financial management, donor reporting and compliance.
- Experience managing external audits.
