Finance Officer at Unique Care and Support Foundation
CASFOD is a non-governmental organization founded in 2019 with a focus on advocating for and protecting the rights of women and children affected by conflict and emergencies. CASFOD is dedicated to providing support and empowerment to vulnerable populations and ensuring that they receive the assistance they need to rebuild their lives.
Our interventions are guided by the Humanitarian Development Peace (HDP) nexus where we seek to address urgent humanitarian needs and promoting sustainable development and peace.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Job Type: Full-time
Job Description
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Assist in budget preparation, monitor expenditures against budgets, and report on variances.
- Manage all daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. This involves recording all income and expenses.
- Process payroll for all staff, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Ensure all financial practices comply with local laws, donor regulations, and internal organizational policies.
- Assist in preparing all necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
- Monitor the organization’s cash flow, managing bank accounts and reconciling statements to ensure financial stability.
- Oversee and reconcile the petty cash fund.
- Process payments to vendors, partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring all payments are properly authorized and documented.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is almost always a requirement.
- Most positions require 3-4 years of experience in a finance or accounting position.
- Experience with specific accounting software or working for a non-profit organization is often preferred.
- You should be able to prepare accurate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- The ability to assist in creating budgets, track expenditures, and forecast future financial needs is critical.
- Strong analytical skills are a must for interpreting financial data and identifying trends or issues.
- You must be proficient in using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to use pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other functions, are essential for financial analysis and modelling.
- You need a solid understanding of financial regulations, laws, and reporting standards to ensure the organization stays compliant.
