Job Title: Finance Officer
Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Head of Finance / Finance Manager
Job Summary
- The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations.
- The ideal candidate will assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and day-to-day financial management activities, contributing to the efficiency and integrity of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Support payroll preparation and related financial documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Prepare periodic financial reports in compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support audit processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Keep abreast of financial regulations, tax laws, and best practices relevant to the organization.
- Liaise with banks, vendors, and relevant regulatory bodies as needed.
- Support donor reporting and project accounting activities (if applicable).
- Contribute to improving the internal control environment and promoting financial accountability.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CPA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial management or accounting.
- Working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and IFRS.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems).
- Strong skills in MS Excel and basic financial analysis.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a donor-funded or non-profit organisation is a plus.
- Familiarity with project finance and multi-currency accounting is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
