In the high-stakes world of humanitarian aid, financial transparency and strategic resource management are the silent engines that drive life-saving missions. Ensuring that funds are utilized ethically and in strict accordance with donor mandates is not just an administrative task; it is a moral imperative that ensures help reaches those who need it most. By stepping into this role, you become a guardian of the resources that provide safety, dignity, and hope to displaced populations across Nigeria.
Job Summary
The Finance and Grants Coordinator is a central figure within the Nigeria International Forum (NIF) Secretariat, responsible for fortifying our financial infrastructure and ensuring seamless grant administration. You will serve as the technical lead in budget oversight and donor compliance, bridging the gap between high-level resource planning and ground-level project execution. Your work will directly support the NIF’s coordination mandate, providing the financial stability required to advocate for and assist vulnerable communities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Management
- Budget Architecture: Develop detailed donor-facing budgets that accurately reflect operational needs while ensuring all essential support costs are covered.
- Expenditure Monitoring: Lead monthly “Budget vs. Actual” (BvA) reviews to identify variances early and provide strategic recommendations for fund reallocation.
- Transaction Integrity: Oversee the processing of staff claims, advances, and vendor payments, ensuring every transaction adheres to NRC’s rigorous financial standards.
- Internal Auditing: Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to ensure data accuracy, transparency, and a clean audit trail.
- Digital Archiving: Manage the systematic filing of all financial evidence within O365, ensuring rapid retrieval and compliance with global documentation standards.
Grants Oversight and Donor Relations
- Grant Lifecycle Management: Maintain a comprehensive dashboard of all active grants, tracking key milestones, reporting deadlines, and specific donor obligations.
- Proposal Development: Act as a financial consultant during the project design phase, reviewing proposals to ensure they align with both internal policies and donor requirements.
- Compliance Advisory: Monitor the shifting landscape of regulatory and donor requirements, providing timely updates and training to the wider team to mitigate risk.
Coordination and Capacity Building
- System Empowerment: Facilitate training sessions for staff on anti-corruption protocols and the efficient use of the Agresso financial system.
- Strategic Representation: Serve as the financial voice in bid committees and multi-departmental planning sessions, ensuring fiscal considerations are integrated into all operational decisions.

In a humanitarian context, improper financial management doesn’t just result in a bad report—it can lead to a loss of funding that directly impacts the delivery of food, water, and shelter. By excelling in this role, you ensure that the NIF remains a credible and effective partner in the effort to protect refugees and displaced persons.
Benefits of Joining the Team
- Professional Impact: Play a critical role in the coordination of humanitarian efforts in one of the world’s most significant response areas.
