We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Electrician
Location: Bauchi
Employment Type: Full-time
Main Purpose
- Performing autonomously, complex / advanced installation and maintenance of electrical and other energy systems in all MSF facilities across the mission (offices, health structures, warehouses, etc., according to MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment and installations.
Job Description
- Regularly inspect solar panels, inverters, batteries, and charge controllers to make sure they’re working well and storing energy properly.
- Keep solar panels clean and clear of dirt, leaves, or shadows to get the most power, especially in different weather.
- Keep an eye on battery health and charge levels. Replace any batteries that aren’t working to avoid power cuts.
- Make sure the system switches smoothly between solar power and the backup generator to keep the hospital running without interruption.
- Find and repair problems with wiring, controllers, or switching systems quickly to prevent breakdowns.
- Always use MSF safety procedures (like turning off power and locking it out) when working on live electrical systems.
- Set up and maintain surge protectors and proper grounding to keep equipment and people safe from electrical spikes.
- Tell the logistics team right away about any unusual things like power fluctuations or batteries getting worse.
- Keep an inventory of spare electrical parts and order more when needed.
- During power outages or system failures. Focus first on keeping critical areas like ICU, Lab, ER and ITFC, and cold storage running.
- Ensure all electrical systems in the office and guest house are working correctly.
- Help make urgent repairs during crises to restore power within MSF’s required time.
- Study how power is used to suggest ways to balance the load better and improve efficiency.
- Ensure all electrical equipment remains functional and is properly maintained, especially in related to power issues, in all MSF premises.
- Make sure there is always a working backup power source (like generators) for critical areas if the main power fails completely.
- Ensure all electrical wires are safely covered and protected to avoid danger to people and equipment.
Requirements
Education:
- Essential Electrician Diploma or recognized formal training.
Experience:
- Essential: previous minimum 2 years working experience as an electrician.
Languages:
- English and Hausa language are essential.
