Driver At Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect)

The scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the Driver to Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect), a non-profit organization registered and based in Nigeria, with the mandate to strengthen health system and quality of service delivery.

TAConnect is implementing a multi-year maternal and newborn health system strengthening project in Borno and Gombe States, with the goal of reducing maternal and newborn mortality. The program focuses on strengthening health facilities’ capacity to provide quality Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC), improving demand and access to skilled delivery, deploying digital and interoperable systems for data-driven decision-making.

Job Description

The Driver will provide reliable and safe transportation services for staff, visitors, and program activities in Borno State. S/he will ensure that project vehicles are maintained in excellent working condition, support logistics and operational functions, and comply with organizational and donor requirements. He/She will also ensure adherence to TAConnects’ policies and donor regulations in the states.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Provide safe and efficient transportation for staff, consultants, and visitors for official assignments.
  • Ensure punctual pick-up and drop-off services for meetings, field visits, and other official activities.
  • Follow traffic rules, organizational policies, and security protocols at all times.Build the capacity of finance/admin staff in donor compliance, reporting, and financial systems.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement in the finance and admin unit
  • Conduct daily checks on vehicle fuel, oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle at all times.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and service schedules.
  • Promptly report any mechanical issues or accidents to the Operations Specialist.
  • Assist with the delivery of documents, supplies, and equipment as required.
  • Provide logistical support during workshops, training sessions, and field activities.
  • Support the Operations Specialist in coordinating vehicle movements for program activities.
  • Adhere strictly to security guidelines and movement protocols in Borno State.
  • Ensure all passengers use seatbelts and observe safety measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff movements and program-related activities.

Job Qualifications

  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
  • Valid Nigerian driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO or corporate organization.
  • Knowledge of local routes, terrain, and security situation in Borno State.
  • Basic skills in vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact respectfully with staff, partners, and community members.

Supervision

The Driver will report directly to the Operations Specialist.

Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment

This is a full-time position, based in Borno, Nigeria.
