About Course

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Certification course equips participants with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. Guided by the latest international resuscitation guidelines, this program focuses on high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and management of choking in adults, children, and infants.

Through interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based simulations, participants will learn to assess emergencies quickly, initiate prompt life-saving interventions, and work effectively as part of a resuscitation team. Upon successful completion of the course and skills assessment, participants will receive a BLS certification valid for two years.

Key Features:

  • Follows American Heart Association (AHA) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines

  • Hands-on practice with manikins, AED trainers, and bag-valve masks

  • Suitable for healthcare providers, first responders, and trained laypersons

  • Combines theory, demonstration, and realistic simulations for skill mastery

What Will You Learn?

  • Recognize life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and choking in adults, children, and infants.
  • Ensure scene safety and protect themselves using basic personal protective measures.
  • Perform high-quality CPR for all age groups, using correct hand placement, depth, and rate.
  • Provide effective rescue breaths using mouth-to-mouth and bag-valve-mask techniques.
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively in various situations.
  • Relieve choking in conscious and unconscious adults, children, and infants.
  • Apply the Chain of Survival to improve survival chances in cardiac emergencies.
  • Work as part of a resuscitation team, using clear and effective communication.
  • Adapt BLS techniques to different settings, including healthcare facilities, community environments, and resource-limited areas.
  • Maintain confidence and readiness to respond quickly in real-life emergencies.

Course Content

Module 1 – Introduction to Basic Life Support
Learning Outcomes By the end of this module, participants will be able to: Define Basic Life Support (BLS) and explain its importance. Describe the steps in the Adult and Pediatric Chain of Survival. Identify the roles and responsibilities of a rescuer. State the key updates from the latest international resuscitation guidelines.

Module 2 – Recognizing and Assessing Emergencies
This module equips learners with the critical skills to quickly identify and evaluate emergency situations while maintaining personal safety. Participants will learn to assess the scene for potential hazards, protect themselves through the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and perform a rapid primary assessment to detect life-threatening conditions. The lessons cover scene safety protocols, primary victim assessment (checking responsiveness, breathing, and pulse), and the correct procedures for activating emergency medical services (EMS). Students will also gain the ability to distinguish between cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and choking — conditions that require immediate and distinct interventions. By the end of this module, learners will be able to: Evaluate an emergency scene for safety and hazards Apply PPE appropriately to reduce risk of infection or injury Perform a quick, accurate primary assessment on adults, children, and infants Activate EMS efficiently with clear, concise information Recognize and differentiate critical emergencies requiring urgent intervention This knowledge ensures rescuers act promptly and safely, maximizing survival chances for victims while minimizing risks to themselves and others.

Module 3 – Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Module 3 – Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) This module teaches participants how to perform high-quality adult CPR — a critical lifesaving skill in emergencies where the heart has stopped beating. Learners will master proper chest compression techniques, including correct hand placement, compression depth, and rate, to maximize blood flow to vital organs. The course also covers the recommended compression-to-ventilation ratio for a single rescuer (30 compressions to 2 breaths), as well as effective rescue breathing methods such as mouth-to-mouth and bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation. Common CPR mistakes are identified along with practical tips to avoid them, ensuring participants gain confidence and competence in delivering effective resuscitation. By the end of this module, learners will be equipped to provide immediate, high-quality CPR that can significantly improve survival outcomes in cardiac emergencies.

Module 4 – Pediatric and Infant CPR

Module 5 – Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Module 6 – Airway and Breathing Emergencies

Module 7 – Team Dynamics in Resuscitation

Module 8 – Practical Skills Sessions

Module 9 – Assessment and Certification
