Cook/Cleaner (Talent Pool) At MSF-Spain
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Spain is recruiting a dedicated Cook/Cleaner to join our Talent Pool in Abuja, Nigeria. This dual-function role (Level 02) is essential for ensuring that our mission teams have a clean, hygienic environment and nutritious, well-prepared meals.
For over 20 years, MSF has provided life-saving medical aid in Nigeria. By maintaining a healthy and functional staff environment, you will directly support the teams delivering impartial care to victims of crisis and conflict.
The Role: Cook/Cleaner (Talent Pool) – Abuja
This recruitment is for a Talent Pool, preparing for fixed-term contracts (starting with 6 months) for candidates who are proficient in both cooking and cleaning duties.
The Cook/Cleaner is responsible for both the preparation of meals and the comprehensive maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness across MSF houses and offices.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Meal Preparation: Carrying out the timely preparation and serving of all staff meals, ensuring variety and balance in the weekly menu (in consultation with the food box manager).
- Hygiene & Safety: Strictly adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen, dining area, and all cooking equipment.
- Cleaning & Housekeeping: Performing general cleaning duties for all MSF facilities (bedrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas), including sweeping, mopping, and ensuring the premises are properly locked when required.
- Laundry & Supplies: Managing the laundry and ironing of clothes, and monitoring and replenishing all necessary supplies (e.g., soap, toilet paper, drinking water, and kitchen stock).
- Stock Control: Controlling the food stock, preparing necessary shopping lists, and making local purchases of fresh food items as required.
