Context in Katsina

ALIMA has been present in Nigeria since 2016, providing health and nutrition services. In Katsina State, we are responding to a nutritional crisis caused by deteriorating security, inflation, and climate change. We have projects in Kaita, Batagarawa, and Katsina LGAs, where we support the Ministry of Health with additional human resources, facility rehabilitation, and medical supplies.

We are recruiting:

Job Title: Cook

Location: Katsina

Main Activities and Responsibilities

As a Cook for ALIMA, you will be responsible for preparing meals for our staff according to strict hygiene and security standards to ensure their nutritional needs are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing meals based on staff requests and instructions.
  • Ensuring all hygiene and security standards are followed.
  • Serving meals on time.
  • Managing food stock, preparing shopping lists, and making purchases as needed.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, and all utensils and equipment.
  • Keeping an inventory of all kitchen items.
  • Ensuring adequate provision of drinkable water.
  • Reporting any incidents, damages, or lost items to your superior.

Requirements

  • Education: Literacy is essential. A course in cooking is desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience is desirable; working as a cook in a hotel is an advantage.
  • Languages: Local language is essential. Mission language is desirable.
  • Competencies: We are looking for candidates with commitment, flexibility, good stress management, a focus on results, and a teamwork-oriented mindset.
