Objective:
NRM is looking for a skilled and proactive Consultant to design and deliver a comprehensive training program on MUAC screening, malnutrition identification (SAM/MAM), and community referral pathways. The consultant will be responsible for building local capacity to ensure long-term sustainability of community-based nutrition surveillance efforts.
Building health workers and Community Nutrition Mobilizer (CNMs)capacity in using MUAC tape for nutritional assessment of children under 5. Increase knowledge of health workers and Community Nutrition Mobilizer (CNMs) on Family MUAC approach so that they adopt this approach in their regular programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver interactive training modules on MUAC screening aligned with national and international standards (WHO, UNICEF, Sphere).
- Facilitate capacity-building sessions for community stakeholders and health workers, focusing on practical application, data recording, and referral systems.
- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate learning outcomes and knowledge retention.
- Provide post-training mentorship and support to ensure proper application of MUAC screening in the field.
- Develop a sustainability action plan for integrating MUAC screening into routine community health services.
- Prepare a comprehensive training report, highlighting key achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, or a related field. Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in delivering capacity-building initiatives, particularly in community health or nutrition programs.
- Strong knowledge of MUAC screening, malnutrition management protocols, and referral pathways.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a nutrition-related role.
- Familiarity with national nutrition guidelines and global best practices (e.g., WHO, UNICEF, Sphere Standards).
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Experience working with community stakeholders and local health authorities is an asset.
Deliverables:
- Comprehensive training materials (manuals, presentations, handouts).
- Training report with assessment results, participant feedback, and recommendations.
- Sustainability strategy for ongoing MUAC screening at the community level.
