Job Summary

  • The Communication Lead will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communication strategy to enhance brand reputation, increase visibility, and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • This role requires expertise in strategic communications, public relations, brand management, digital marketing, stakeholder engagement, and media relations.
  • The ideal candidate will lead the organization’s storytelling, oversee digital growth, drive impactful campaigns, and foster meaningful partnerships to position the organization as a thought leader in its industry.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Brand Management:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor a robust communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee brand identity and ensure compliance with brand guidelines across all internal and external channels.
  • Monitor brand perception and develop strategies to enhance reputation and visibility.
  • Drive creativity and innovation within the communications team, delivering high-quality campaigns and content.

Public Relations & Media Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary media spokesperson, managing media relations and securing high-impact media placements.
  • Draft press releases, speeches, and key messages for public-facing engagements.
  • Foster relationships with media houses, journalists, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead public relations and marketing activities, including press conferences, advocacy campaigns, and industry events.

Digital Strategy & Content Development:

  • Oversee the development and execution of a sophisticated digital communications strategy.
  • Drive growth, engagement, and content strategy for digital platforms, including websites, social media, and email marketing.
  • Monitor digital analytics and optimize strategies to enhance audience engagement.
  • Lead the development of multimedia content, including blogs, videos, newsletters, and reports.

Internal & External Communications:

  • Oversee the creation and dissemination of internal communications materials to ensure alignment across departments.
  • Ensure timely and consistent documentation of impact stories, testimonials, and success narratives.
  • Manage the production of publications such as newsletters, reports, brochures, and other informational materials.

Campaigns & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead the planning and execution of high-impact advocacy campaigns and communication initiatives.
  • Coordinate engagement with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, policymakers, and the general public.
  • Represent the organization in high-level meetings, public forums, and conferences.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building:

  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to the communications team.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and professional development of communications staff.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for the communications unit.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or media, preferably within the nonprofit, development, or corporate sector.
  • Strong media networks and proven experience securing high-level media coverage.
  • Expertise in digital communications, content creation, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale campaigns, brand management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and manage a lean team effectively.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven technical skills in using and deploying a wide range of multimedia, web, and digital tools.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, specifically communicating complex policy ideas in an accessible and relatable style that engages audiences’ understanding.
  • Excellent project management skills including experience in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Intrapreneurial spirit, with ability to work under minimal supervision, take ownership, self-starter, creative thinker, and innovative mindset.
  • High skills in using different computer software packages for producing various publications and materials.
  • A flair for writing and storytelling.
  • Curious and passionate
  • Outspoken with great self-composure and good public speaking skills
  • Proven experience working with new media

Salary
N400,000 – N600,000 per month.
