International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Officer, Country Programs LN to join our team in Kano, Nigeria. This is a full-time position for a professional looking to make a tangible impact in humanitarian operations and program development.
The Mission
At International Medical Corps, we assist those in urgent need anywhere, anytime, no matter what the conditions. We provide lifesaving health care and emergency services—often within hours. As conditions ease, we work with local leaders to rebuild stronger, focusing on development and essential skill transfer through our training programs.
The Role: Job Summary
Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, the Program Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the country mission. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of program activities, ensuring high-quality reporting, and maintaining seamless coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- M&E Systems: Review and develop monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure quality program implementation.
- Grant Management: Provide guidance to staff on the reporting of programs, grants, and contracts.
- Performance Monitoring: Identify issues affecting program quality and suggest necessary adjustments.
- Donor Relations: Respond to donor inquiries and support the development of new project proposals for institutional and private donors.
- Coordination: Lead weekly meetings with national staff and interface with government agencies and stakeholders.
- Strategic Growth: Identify funding opportunities and secure donor meetings for the Country Director.
Who We Are Looking For
We need a creative, flexible, and team-oriented professional who thrives in resource-deprived environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Typically a Master’s degree in Public Health, International Development, or a relevant field.
- Experience: 2–3 years in program design and evaluation (at least 1 year in a developing country or resource-deprived environment).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Word and Excel (PowerPoint is a plus).
- Communication: Excellent written and oral English skills are mandatory.
- Competencies: Familiarity with international humanitarian operations (UN, NGOs, and donor mandates), cross-cultural awareness, and the ability to work under limited supervision.
