Job Summary

The Human Resource Officer is a strategic role responsible for managing the entire employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition and performance optimization to welfare and professional separation. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Talent Management

  • Acquisition & Onboarding: Lead the recruitment process to attract high-integrity professionals who align with the Society’s values.
  • Professional Development: Design and implement result-oriented training programs to enhance staff competencies and career growth.
  • Performance Excellence: Oversee robust performance management systems that encourage accountability and reward outstanding contributions.
  • Retention & Motivation: Develop and manage attractive motivational strategies and benefit packages to maintain high morale and low turnover.

Policy & Asset Administration

  • Empathetic Governance: Administer organizational policies strictly and fairly, ensuring all actions are taken with professional integrity and a “human face.”
  • Resource Stewardship: Manage the administration of organizational assets to ensure maximum utility and prevent operational downtime.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to high-level organizational planning and implement HR initiatives that support long-term mission goals.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Labor Law Adherence: Ensure all HR practices remain fully compliant with current Nigerian labor and employment legislation.
  • Conflict Resolution: Serve as a bridge between management and staff, resolving grievances with patience and professional sociability.
  • Exit Management: Facilitate “painless” and professional separation processes for departing staff members.

Requirements & Personnel Specification

  • Academic Background: A First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in the Humanities is required. An MBA or a Master’s in Personnel Management, Industrial & Labor Relations, or a related field is highly advantageous.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience, with at least 3 years specifically focused on core Human Resource Management.
  • Professional Certification: Mandatory certification from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) or CIPD, England.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and a high level of presentation skills.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence, flexibility, and a result-oriented mindset; must be a sociable team player who remains calm under pressure.
  • Ethical Standing: A proven record of Christian integrity and a deep commitment to the spiritual mission of the organization.
