The Mission

MSF is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization providing aid to those affected by conflict, epidemics, and natural disasters. In Bauchi, your work will directly impact the quality of care provided to communities in need by ensuring the functionality and safety of all medical devices.

The Role: Main Purpose

You will plan, coordinate, and monitor all biomedical logistics activities for the project. From reviewing annual budgets to supervising the installation of complex oxygen systems, you will be the technical lead for all medical equipment maintenance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Management: Oversee the installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and certification of all biomedical equipment according to MSF standards.
  • Oxygen Systems: Plan and implement oxygen systems, including splitters in hospital wards, to ensure a continuous supply for patient care.
  • Stock & Supply: Manage inventories of spare parts and back-up equipment; coordinate with the MSF Supply Centre for complex repairs.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the biomedical team, managing task allocation, performance evaluations, and capacity building.
  • Training: Deliver essential training to medical and technical staff on the correct use, basic repair, and hygiene of biomedical devices.
  • Reporting: Analyze maintenance data and provide regular technical updates to project and mission management.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Degree as a Biomedical Technician/Engineer, Electronic Technician/Engineer, or Clinical Engineer.
  • Experience: * Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Biomedical or Electronic Technician/Engineer.
    • Proven supervisory experience.
    • Experience in pedagogical (training) skills is a significant asset.
  • Languages: English is essential; Hausa is desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Computer literacy, electrical engineering principles, asset management, and safety protocols.
  • Core Competencies: Quality orientation, teamwork, stress management, and a deep commitment to MSF Principles.
