We are seeking a compassionate and skilled MHPSS Officer to support the delivery of mental health and psychosocial support services to vulnerable individuals and communities affected by crisis.
The role focuses on strengthening resilience, improving emotional well-being, and ensuring safe referral for individuals with specialized mental health needs.
Job Title: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer
Locations: MMC & Jere – Borno, Madagali, Adamawa and Fune – Yobe
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Mental Health, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in MHPSS, counselling, or psychosocial programming
- Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) or counselling skills is an advantage
- Experience in humanitarian or conflict-affected settings is highly desirable.
- Proven work experience in the implementation of disability inclusion programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions
- Deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) where required
- Facilitate structured support groups and community-based PSS activities
- Identify individuals requiring specialized mental health care and support referrals
- Conduct community awareness sessions on stress management, coping skills, and stigma reduction
- Maintain confidential case files and documentation
- Support training of community volunteers on basic psychosocial support
- Collect data and contribute to activity and donor reports
- Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality, and do-no-harm principles are upheld
- Support the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles at any time during activities.
