Job purpose

  • The BBC Media Action office in Nigeria is looking for a Senior Producer responsible for multimedia production activities in a multi-component Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) programme focused on reproductive health and child spacing in Northern Nigeria.
  • The Senior Producer will utilise their editorial expertise, programme production experience, and ability to oversee production activities to ensure the quality and alignment of media outputs with the overall project objectives.
  • The Senior Producer will collaborate with colleagues across the production and training department to deliver high-quality audio, visual and digital outputs that fulfil thematic objectives while maximising relevance and appeal among target audiences.
  • The role is responsible for initiating and driving the full production lifecycle — from concept development through to final delivery — ensuring strong editorial quality, strategic alignment, and audience impact.
  • In addition, the Senior Producer will provide strategic oversight of digital and multimedia production, including line management of the Digital Producer and Assistant Producer (Multimedia), ensuring that all digital outputs, such as short-form video, social media content, interactive formats and web-native storytelling, are platform-optimised, audience-responsive, data-informed and fully aligned with overall campaign objectives.
  • The role reports to the Head of Production and will work closely with other producers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Head of Production and Training, lead the end-to-end design, planning, budgeting and delivery of radio, television and digital outputs from concept development through production and post-production, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Supervise and provide editorial oversight to production teams, including producers, writers, contributors and technical staff, across all stages of pitching, scripting, recording, filming and editing.
  • Direct studio and field recordings, ensuring smooth production workflows and effective coordination of logistics and resources.
  • Line manage and provide technical oversight to the Digital Producer and Assistant Producer (Multimedia), ensuring strong integration between broadcast and digital outputs.
  • Lead digital-first content strategy and oversee platform optimisation, using audience insights and analytics to strengthen engagement and behavioural impact.
  • Collaborate closely with strategy, research and SBC teams to translate behavioural objectives into compelling multimedia content with measurable impact.
  • Monitor content performance and recommend adaptive improvements to maximise reach, engagement and effectiveness across platforms.
  • Ensure effective digital production workflows, compliance, safeguarding and data protection across all multimedia outputs.
  • Support the ongoing development of creative and editorial capacity within the team.
  • Any other tasks assigned by Media Action to achieve project and organisational objectives.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Proven experience producing engaging and creative content across radio, television and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrable experience leading production or multimedia teams, including providing editorial
  • oversight and managing digital or social media outputs.
  • Strong editorial judgement, with a clear understanding of BBC editorial values and standards.
  • Creative writing skills in English and Hausa, with the ability to develop ideas that resonate with broad and diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working collaboratively in a media production environment.
  • Good understanding of the role of communications in development and behaviour change programming.
  • Experience using digital insights and analytics to inform content refinement and audience engagement.
  • Working knowledge of multimedia production tools and workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, consent and risk management considerations in media production.
