Rural Nurture Initiative (RNI) is inviting applications from passionate and impact-driven individuals to serve as Volunteers under its Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Security programme.
RNI is a Non-Governmental Organisation committed to promoting inclusive and sustainable rural development across Nigeria and Africa. Through community-based interventions, the organisation supports agricultural resilience, food systems strengthening, and environmental sustainability.

Volunteer Position
Role: Volunteer – Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Security
Organisation: Rural Nurture Initiative (RNI)
Duration: One (1) year (renewable based on performance and commitment)
Location: Nigeria (volunteers may operate within their state of residence)
About the Programme
The Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Security programme focuses on:
- Promoting sustainable agricultural practices
- Supporting climate adaptation strategies for rural farmers
- Enhancing food security and nutrition outcomes
- Encouraging environmentally responsible farming methods
- Strengthening rural livelihoods through resilient agriculture
Volunteers will contribute to programme design, research, community outreach, and awareness initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Applicants with backgrounds or skills in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

- Research writing and data analysis
- Proposal and grant writing
- Project logistics and programme planning
- Community mobilisation and farmer engagement
- Digital content development and advocacy
Technical skills such as data collection, GIS mapping, photography, social media management, or digital marketing are an added advantage.
Prior volunteering experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Selected volunteers will:
- Support implementation of agriculture and food security initiatives
- Participate in planning, monitoring, and reporting activities
- Assist in farmer training, awareness campaigns, and community engagement
- Contribute to documentation, research, and data collection
- Uphold organisational values and ethical standards
Volunteers may also express interest in becoming an RNI Ambassador and leading projects within their local communities.
Commitment Requirements
Applicants must:
- Commit to actively volunteering for one year
- Remain accountable to RNI leadership
- Maintain professionalism and integrity
- Agree to purchase a customised RNI T-shirt (₦5,000) upon onboarding
