MAIN PURPOSE

The Nurse Trainer is responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating project activities related to the training of nurses, nutritional assistants, and nurse aides. The goal is to strengthen the quality and continuity of care in the pediatric ward and support the implementation of the project’s medical action plan through both theoretical and practical mentoring.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Training Needs Assessment: Identify training gaps and skill deficiencies within the medical team to define continuous professional development activities.
  • Program Design: Develop comprehensive annual training programs for nursing staff, covering topics such as infection prevention, medical procedures, and patient management.
  • Facilitation: Lead training sessions, workshops, and simulations using MSF teaching materials and adult learning methodologies.
  • Clinical Mentoring: Provide one-on-one, bedside teaching and clinical mentoring—the primary focus of this role—to reinforce key skills in a real-world setting.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with medical teams to align learning activities with the objective of improving care quality at Ganjuwa Hospital and ATFCs.
  • Evaluation: Monitor the effectiveness of training through feedback surveys, skills assessments, and direct observation, adjusting plans as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Registered Nurse degree with significant work experience in pediatrics is essential.
  • Experience: * Previous professional experience in training or teaching (clinical or humanitarian context) is preferred.
    • Experience with MSF or other NGOs in humanitarian/low-resource settings is highly desirable.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Hausa is essential.
  • Technical Skills: * Strong mastery of current medical protocols.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Knowledge of the Tembo MSF learning platform is an asset.
  • Competencies: Strong interest in training/learning, high level of professional discipline, results-orientation, and teamwork.
