Storekeeper (Logistics) – Maiduguri, Borno State at at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Belgiu)

In the heart of a humanitarian crisis, the difference between life and death often rests on the availability of a single spare part, a specialized tool, or a piece of medical equipment. Efficient warehouse management is the silent heartbeat of our operations, ensuring that our medical teams never lack the technical resources they need to save lives. By maintaining a meticulous and secure supply chain, you ensure that every item in our inventory serves its purpose in the fight for human dignity and survival.

Job Summary

The Storekeeper is the custodian of the project’s logistics inventory, responsible for the end-to-end management of receipts, storage, and distribution of technical materials. You will ensure that spare parts, tools, and equipment are organized, protected, and ready for immediate deployment according to MSF’s rigorous global protocols. Your contribution is essential to the uninterrupted functioning of our hospital and outreach activities in Borno State.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control and Documentation

  • Stock Authentication: Receive all incoming deliveries, meticulously verifying quantities and conditions against delivery notes and reporting any discrepancies immediately.
  • Real-time Record Keeping: Update or create stock cards for every item instantly upon reception, ensuring 100% accuracy in the hospital’s logistics and health promotion stores.
  • Sensitive Goods Management: Exercise high-level oversight of “sensitive” inventory, tracking batch numbers, expiration dates, and specialized packaging requirements.
  • Reporting and Audits: Lead physical stock counts at scheduled intervals and collaborate with line managers to prepare detailed replenishment reports and inventory summaries.

Warehouse Operations and Security

  • Technical Knowledge: Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and cloud tools like SharePoint/OneDrive) is an asset for digital stock tracking.
  • Core Competencies: Strong commitment to MSF principles, results-oriented mindset, behavioral flexibility, and the ability to maintain accuracy under stress.
