Career Opportunity: Logistics Assistant (SARMAAN II Project) at Malaria Consortium

Location: Kebbi, Nigeria

Employment Type: Contract

Application Deadline: December 31, 2025

Organization: Malaria Consortium

Ensuring the Last Mile of Life-Saving Healthcare

In the fight against communicable diseases, the most advanced medicines are only effective if they reach the communities that need them most. In a humanitarian context, a robust supply chain is the lifeline that connects strategic planning to actual survival on the ground. As a Logistics Assistant for the SARMAAN II project, you will play an essential role in safeguarding this lifeline, ensuring that critical commodities are handled, tracked, and delivered with the precision and speed required to save lives.

Job Summary

The Logistics Assistant provides vital support to the Supply Chain Officer and state-level health authorities in the management of SARMAAN II medical commodities. The successful candidate will maintain an efficient inventory control system, oversee the physical preparation of supplies for distribution rounds, and ensure meticulous documentation of all stock movements within the state office.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Distribution Support

  • Pick and Pack Operations: Lead the physical preparation of medicines (AZM), diagnostic tools, training materials, and visibility items at least four days prior to the start of Last Mile Distribution (LMD).
  • Reverse Logistics: Conduct the accurate sorting, counting, and formal documentation of all unused commodities returned to the Central Medical Store after each implementation round.
  • Verification & Quality Control: Perform physical inspections of commodities during receipt from vendors and prior to dispatch to ensure quantity and quality standards are met.
  • Asset Labeling: Manage the separation and clear labeling of used versus unused materials, ensuring empty containers are handled according to project protocols.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Audit Trail Management: Ensure all delivery notes and waybills are accurately signed, issued, and filed; collate duplicate Proof of Delivery (PoD) documents for project archives.
  • Reconciliation: Assist in post-distribution stock reconciliation for non-medicine commodities to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Performance Reporting: Submit comprehensive reverse logistics reports to the Supply Chain Officer within 48 hours of completing a round.
  • Monitoring: Conduct monthly assessments of stock levels at the State Central Medical Store to prevent stock-outs or expirations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Background: Minimum of a Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent.
  • Professional Experience: At least one year of hands-on experience in commodity logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain operations.
  • Technical Literacy: Full computer literacy is required (proficiency in MS Excel is highly advantageous for inventory tracking).
  • Operational Agility: Proven ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work beyond standard hours when project deliverables require it.
  • Soft Skills: A collaborative mindset with a strong “service-first” mentality; the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Added Advantage: Previous experience specifically in the “pick and pack” of public health or humanitarian commodities.

Why This Role is Vital

The SARMAAN II project targets some of the most vulnerable populations in Nigeria. This role is the “engine room” of the project; without your attention to detail in the warehouse, health workers in the field may lack the medicines or tools needed for a successful campaign. By ensuring that every bottle is counted and every waybill is signed, you are providing the accountability and reliability that national health systems need to eliminate malaria and improve economic prosperity for all.

Benefits of Joining Malaria Consortium

  • Professional Mentorship: Gain experience with one of the world’s leading non-profit organizations in disease control.
  • Impactful Work: Directly contribute to the reduction of morbidity and mortality in Kebbi and surrounding states.
  • Safety & Integrity: Work in an environment that prioritizes safeguarding and the highest ethical standards for staff and communities.
