Job Summary
The Humanitarian Youth Inspirator is a strategic role focused on strengthening the leadership and operational capacities of youth groups, partners, and the Activista movement. The successful candidate will drive the “Youth in Crisis” engagements and support the execution of the SPA II project, empowering young people to lead effective campaigns and humanitarian actions in complex environments.
Key Responsibilities
Capacity Building & Youth Empowerment
- Movement Support: Strengthen the organizational and implementation capacities of youth-led groups and the Activista network to drive meaningful social change.
- Skill Transfer: Provide tailored training and mentorship to young people from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate humanitarian systems and advocacy.
- Strategic Implementation: Support the day-to-day execution of SPA II project activities, ensuring that youth-led actions are impactful and aligned with project goals.
Advocacy, Mobilization & Digital Engagement
- Campaign Development: Lead the design and rollout of creative, effective campaigns that address the specific needs of youth living in crisis-affected areas.
- Grassroots Mobilization: Coordinate and mobilize diverse groups across rural and semi-urban communities to build a unified front against poverty and injustice.
- Digital Integration: Utilize digital platforms and social media mediums to amplify youth voices and facilitate remote organizing and advocacy.
Coordination & Knowledge Management
- Logistics & Facilitation: Organize and coordinate high-level meetings, workshops, and training sessions for stakeholders and youth activists.
- Research & Reporting: Conduct field research and produce high-quality reports that document project progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Analytical Support: Apply strong analytical skills to negotiate partnerships and prioritize project actions in a fast-paced humanitarian setting.
Personnel Specification & Requirements
Educational Background
- A First Degree in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field is essential for this role.
Essential Experience
- Post-NYSC Record: Minimum of two (2) years of post-NYSC professional experience, with at least one (1) year specifically focused on youth-centric programming in the humanitarian or development sector.
- Group Dynamics: Proven experience working directly with youth movements and diversified groups in both rural and semi-urban environments.
- Advocacy & Campaigns: Demonstrable track record in developing successful advocacy strategies and utilizing digital tools for social mobilization.
Technical Skills & Abilities
- Communication: Exceptional writing and research skills, with the ability to produce flawless reports and analytical briefs.
- Linguistic Proficiency: Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.
- Digital Expertise: The ability to provide technical support to individuals with varying levels of digital literacy.
- Interpersonal Mastery: Strong negotiation, planning, and prioritization skills, combined with a high level of numeracy and multitasking ability.
