Job Summary
The Bible Society of Nigeria is seeking a disciplined and highly skilled Professional Driver to manage the safe transportation of personnel and materials across Lagos and beyond. The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle maintenance, document compliance, and efficient logistics, serving as a vital link in our distribution and programs chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Asset Management: Ensure the efficient and careful operation of all assigned vehicles, maintaining them in peak functional condition at all times.
- Compliance & Documentation: Proactively monitor and update vehicle registrations, insurance, and all other mandatory legal documents to ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian road laws.
- Maintenance Oversight: Identify and report mechanical faults or part defects immediately; oversee the repair process and routine servicing to ensure quality workmanship.
- Logistical Integrity: Ensure that vehicles are used strictly for their designated organizational purposes, optimizing routes for fuel efficiency and timely delivery.
- Safety Standards: Adhere strictly to traffic codes and safety regulations, prioritizing the protection of passengers, pedestrians, and cargo during every trip.
Personnel Specifications & Requirements
- Educational Foundation: Possession of a Senior School Certificate (SSCE). Candidates with a Primary School Leaving Certificate may be considered if they possess extensive experience (10+ years) and an impeccable driving record.
- Proven Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience is required.
- Versatility: While the ability to drive lightweight vehicles is standard, candidates who are licensed and experienced in handling heavy-duty trucks (16–22 tonnes) will have a significant advantage.
- Character & Discipline: Must be an individual of high integrity, demonstrating professional discipline and a comprehensive understanding of traffic signs and road safety codes.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and administrative abilities; must be able to work harmoniously within a team and communicate effectively with supervisors.
