Job Summary
Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI), in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and KFW, is seeking a skilled EMAP Assistant to implement the Engaging Men through Accountable Practice (EMAP) methodology in Potiskum, Yobe. The successful candidate will facilitate structured, gender-transformative sessions and dialogues with male and female participants, promoting positive masculinity, respectful behaviors, and integrating these approaches into broader social cohesion and peacebuilding initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
The EMAP Assistant will be responsible for the sensitive and structured delivery of the EMAP curriculum and its integration into the WFP-funded resilience project.
1. EMAP Session Implementation and Fidelity
- Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate structured EMAP sessions with both male and female participants, ensuring strict adherence to the proprietary EMAP curriculum and methodology to achieve desired learning outcomes.
- Participant Mobilization: Collaborate closely with local peace committees (LPCs), religious leaders, and protection staff to sensitively identify and register male participants for the structured sessions.
- Dialogue Promotion: Lead group dialogues focused on promoting positive masculinity, respectful behaviors, support for women and girls, and challenging harmful, entrenched gender norms through guided reflection.
2. Integration and Capacity Building
- Cross-Sectoral Integration: Work closely with the peacebuilding team to seamlessly integrate EMAP dialogues and principles into broader social cohesion interventions, including joint mediation and community dialogue forums.
- Sensitization: Support the delivery of training and sensitization sessions on EMAP, gender equality, GESI, and GBV prevention for schools, local government stakeholders, and the wider community.
- Awareness Campaigns: Contribute to the planning and execution of awareness-raising campaigns, including cultural and edutainment events, aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and gender equity.
3. Monitoring, Documentation, and Accountability
- Data Collection: Participate actively in the monitoring and evaluation of EMAP activities, including accurate tracking of session attendance, collecting feedback, and observing behavioral changes in the community.
- Documentation: Contribute to the systematic documentation of success stories, case studies, challenges, and lessons learned to inform program adaptation and improvement.
- Commitment to Principles: Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and accountability in all interactions, ensuring the safety and dignity of all participants.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Peacebuilding, or a related social science field.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience facilitating structured male engagement or gender-transformative programming, with a focus on GBV prevention or peacebuilding.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application experience with the EMAP model or a similar recognized structured behavioral change approach.
- Experience working with community-based structures and local authorities in the North-East Nigeria context.
