Job Title:  Nutrition Officer

Section: Nutrition

Duration: 6 Months

Duty Station: Adamawa state (Madagali)

Reports to:  Nutrition Coordinator

Start Date: IMMEDIATELY

Purpose of Assignment:

The Nutrition Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition nterventions aimed at improving the nutritional status of vulnerable populations. This includes supporting nutrition assessments, managing community-based nutrition programs, training staff and volunteers, and coordinating with health and food security teams to ensure integrated service delivery. The role also involves promoting behavior change through nutrition education and ensuring compliance with national and international nutrition standards.

Major duties and responsibilities:

•          Conduct nutrition assessments and contribute to the design of appropriate interventions.

•          Implement and monitor nutrition programs such as CMAM, IYCF, and micronutrient supplementation.

•          Train and supervise community health workers and volunteers on nutrition practices.

•          Collaborate with health, WASH, and food security teams to ensure integrated programming.

•          Support nutrition education and behavior change communication activities.

•          Monitor program performance and prepare regular reports for internal and donor use.

•          Ensure adherence to national guidelines and international standards (e.g., Sphere, WHO).

•          Participate in coordination meetings and represent the organization in nutrition-related forums.

Code of Conduct

Safeguarding

It is all staff shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES (indicates the level of proficiency required for the job.)

EDUCATION & OTHER SKILL: B.SC in Nutrition, Food Science or other relevant disciplines.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Four years of professional work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of Nutrition project/program. Professional work experience in a project/program management function or a technical expert capacity in health or Nutrition care

•          Background/familiarity with Emergency.

•          Excellent communications skills, both oral and written

•          Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations

•          Strong writing and presentation skills

•          Proven capabilities in leadership required

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Fluency in English and local working language of the duty station will be an asset.
