Job Title: Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)

Job Title: Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)
Job Summary
The CHEW will deliver integrated primary health care services through mobile medical outreach activities. The position supports clinical consultations, health education, disease prevention, and referral services to improve access to essential health care for crisis-affected populations.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct medical consultations and provide treatment according to national PHC guidelines.
• Identify, manage, and refer complicated cases appropriately.
• Support maternal and child health, including ANC, PNC, immunization, and nutrition screening.
• Promote health education and awareness on hygiene, disease prevention, and nutrition.
• Participate in surveillance of epidemic-prone diseases and timely reporting.
• Ensure proper documentation of patients and daily reporting of outreach activities.
• Supervise JCHEWs and community volunteers during outreach.
• Ensure drugs and consumables are properly managed and accounted for.
• Participate in community mobilization and feedback collection.
Qualifications and Experience
• Diploma in Community Health Extension (CHEW) from a recognized institution.
• Valid practicing license from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.
• Minimum of 2–3 years clinical or outreach experience, preferably in a humanitarian or PHC setting.
• Good knowledge of integrated community case management (iCCM) and IMCI.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Core Competencies
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and AAP.
• Good clinical judgment and decision-making ability.
• Basic data recording and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work in remote, hard-to-reach areas.
