Job Title: Finance Officer – NGO

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Reporting to: Executive Director / Managing Director
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Finance & Accounting Officer will oversee the financial operations across the foundation, including payroll, donations, disbursement, statutory compliance, budgeting, reporting, and asset management.
  • This role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements, while supporting strategic financial planning and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor income and expenditure using accounting software.
  • Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, liabilities, revenue, expenditure, and cash transactions.
  • Reconcile company accounts and bank statements.
  • Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.
  • Develop and present accounting budgets and management reports as requested.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance:

  • Process monthly payroll in conjunction with HR, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain payroll records, including tax withholdings, benefits, and deductions.
  • Compute and remit statutory payments (PAYE, WHT, VAT, PENSION) to relevant bodies.
  • Ensure timely submission of payroll taxes and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain the calendar for FIRS, State IRS, and CAC filings and secure the Tax Clearance Certificate for applicable programs annually.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding client invoices, and also donations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments, and staff claims/advances.
  • Develop and process invoices upon delivery of procured items.

Donation & Fund Management:

  • Accurately record and manage all incoming donations (cash, checks, online, in-kind).
  • Maintain detailed donor records and prepare donation reports.
  • Collaborate with fundraising teams to provide financial insights.

Operational Support & Bookkeeping:

  • Post transactions on financial software and maintain bookkeeping standards for programs across the foundation.
  • Ensure cost savings and value optimization in vendor and contractor engagements.
  • Review operational expenditure requisitions for quality and pricing.
  • Assist Admin in their Office, Vehicles, work equipment, and employee welfare management responsibilities.

Compliance & Confidentiality:

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all financial transactions and correspondence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant government parastatals.
  • And other related and administrative tasks as assigned.

Salary
N300,000 – N400,000 Monthly.
