Hope and rural aid foundation is a local non-governmental organisation that works nation-wide with major focus in Northeast Nigeria to promote health, education, food security and livelihood; supporting the needs of internally displaced persons, and serving the vulnerable. We have a workforce of about 25 and a growing community of more than 75 volunteers cut across our different working sectors within the North eastern states of Nigeria
About the Job
The Health Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of health projects in Dikwa community. The position ensures quality service delivery, efficient resource management, compliance with national and donor standards, and strong collaboration with stakeholders. The Health Coordinator will also play a key role in capacity building of project staff and community health structures, while providing strategic leadership and technical guidance to ensure impactful and sustainable health outcomes.

Job Type: Six (6) months contract

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and coordination of all health-related programs and interventions.
- Develop and oversee implementation plans, budgets, and work plans for health projects.
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of health services in line with national and international standards.
- Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of health project staff and volunteers.
- Strengthen collaboration with local health authorities, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance through regular field visits, data reviews, and supervision.
- Ensure effective use of project resources and adherence to donor and organizational compliance requirements.
- Prepare high-quality project reports, case studies, and technical inputs for proposals.
- Support the design of new health programs and contribute to strategic planning processes.
- Promote community participation and ownership in health interventions.
- Represent HARAF in health sector coordination meetings, workshops, and technical forums.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Executive Director.
Qualification/professional competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing or coordinating health programs, preferably within NGOs or humanitarian contexts.
- Strong understanding of primary health care, reproductive health, nutrition, and disease prevention programs.
- Proven experience in project planning, team management, monitoring, and donor reporting.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with health data management tools.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in challenging environments.
- Fluency in English (knowledge of Hausa or other local languages is an advantage).
